Although most of the following information is available in our ABOUT page, we wanted to take a minute to clarify just exactly how THE CAGE works in a post for you as well, beginning with the – Megalodon’s.

MEGALODONS – WaiverSharks Hall of Fame!

Although currently empty - is a “Shark Tier” that has been reserved for players that we’ve previously recommended in one of our other 7 Shark Tiers (See Below)

Megalodon’s are Fantasy players considered to no longer be available on the Waiver Wires of the majority of conventional TWELVE team, or greater 5X5 leagues. We intend to have an archive of them all. A virtual WaiverSharks Hall of Fame!

*We will also select ONE player a month from the newly crowned Megalodon’s to be our coveted Megalodon of the Month!

As briefly explained on the left hand side of every page, in our Legend of the Shark, these are the remaining Shark Tiers:

Great Whites - Shouldn’t be on your waiver wire!
Bull Sharks - Excellent Pick-ups!
Hammerheads - Solid Pick-ups!
Tiger Sharks - Tremendous upside Pick-ups!
Mako Sharks - Sleepers
Reef Sharks - Deep Sleepers
Blue Sharks - Prospects

If a player falls from grace, he may be deemed to be a Lemon Shark, which is our fantasy ratings equivalent of a “Bust”.

If he becomes injured, or is put on the disabled list, he may be found on a tier called Nurse Sharks.

We intend to update THE CAGE about once a week, depending on what’s happening in the world of Major League Baseball.

The following is a simple guideline to what the colors in THE CAGE mean:

Players who are NEW to THE CAGE are shown in RED.

Players who have MOVED UP in THE CAGE are shown in GREEN.

Players who have MOVED DOWN in THE CAGE are shown in YELLOW.

We will also keep you posted on what may lie ahead, with an ongoing list of prospects that could potentially be added to THE CAGE some day.

These are what we refer to as Baby Sharks.

Hopefully you now have a little better understanding of how THE CAGE works, and will enjoy our site that much more knowing the meanings of the different Tier levels of Sharks, and the color coding we use to represent player movements and additions to The Cage.

I find that it would be useful if you put the colour code somewhere on The Cage page. I was confused as to what the colours meant…

Hey Navi. Thanks for the suggestion!

A very brief color code—or “colour code” for the Canadians! :-) has recently been added to the top portion of The Cage page.

Hope this helps out, and best of luck winning week 2 of all your Fantasy Baseball leagues.
