Knock Knock. Whose there?
OPPORTUNITY !
Boston ’s Julio Lugo has landed on the DL with a buggered left quadricep.
Now - if you have Rollins, Hanley or Reyes, you are not watching this scenario with much interest. But as for the rest of us – take note.
This opens up a chance for Red Sox Triple-A Pawtucket prospect Jed Lowrie - who may conceivably stick for good in the big leagues considering Lugo hasn’t exactly set Beantown on fire with his mediocre offence and sub-par defense.
Lowrie and Dustin Pedroia have long been touted as the middle infield combo of the future for the Sox.
If the selective Lowrie can manage regular at bats within the Red Sox potent line-up, he may be worth taking a gamble on – especially since he will be eligible at both 3B and at the increasingly thin SS position.
So - if you’re hunting for a sleeper Fantasy short stop – Jed could become a force to reckon with after the All-Star break.
