The Shallow
Kendry Morales - 1B/Outfield (RF)
This big Cuban has drawn some comparisons to a young Luis Sojo. With his sweet swing and mouth watering power, Morales is a hot commodity in a rather potent Angel offense.
After bouncing back from a slow start, Morales has hit .305 over the last month with 15 of his 29 hits going for extra bases; 8 by the way of Home Runs.
If you’re looking for a great backup first base, or just a replacement for a sick Joey Votto, or just someone to cover off days at both first and in the outfield, than Morales is your man.
The Deep
J.A. Happ - (SP/RP)
After dueling with Chan Ho Park this spring, Happ was slightly edged out by the wile veteran. But with the season starting to take shape, Park has finally begun to show his true colors.
Enter J.A. Happ, who is patiently waiting in the reigning World Series winning Philadelphia Phillies bullpen. Happ has done an admirable job in long relief this season, and given the fact that the Phil’s have 2 aging starters in Moyer and Park, a job in the rotation appears to be on the horizon.
This former top prospect should be high on your watch list, if not on your team. Look for him to take over a comfortable role as the Phillies #5 by months end.
