Well, the wait is over…A Frankie “K-Rod” Rodriguez bobblehead (Ebay LINK) has been selected to adorn our 2010 Bobblehead Daze blog.

2010 Bobblehead DazeYep - Bobblehead Daze gets a little makeover today as we continue to bring you plenty of 2010 baseball bobblehead information in addition to plenty of Fantasy Baseball advice and chat.

Do you like the K-rod selection?

Is the New York Mets K-Rod Bobblehead better - or worse than our 2009 Daric Barton Bobblehead picture?

We liked the energy conveyed in the design of the Mets closer bobble – and since we’d already had a MLB Starting Pitcher Bobblehead (Zach Duke in 2008) and a MiLB batter (Sacramento Rivercats - Daric Barton in 2009) we figured it was time we featured a solid reliever – so why not one of the better closers in the game!

Any suggestions on which bobblehead WaiverSharks editor Scott Woodall should have featured this year?

Bobblebums

Over at Bobblebums.com

- a terrific website site that focuses solely on Bobbleheads, site owner John Trimback has begun listing a dazzling array of rare bobbleheads up for auction on eBay Now!

John is in the midst of trying to raise some money to do some upgrades to his Bobblebums website where he hopes to switch to a new version of Invision powerboard in about a month or so.

In addition to this, Mr. Trimback is also looking to drive donations for various charity rides he’s taking part in during the summer of 2010!

To help boost his donations, Bobblebums is doing this:

If you donate $25 online before you pay for your auctions, Bobblebums will discount you $10 off your invoice!

If you donate $50 online before you pay for auctions, Bobblebums will discount you $20 off your invoice!

You can help any of the following charities with a tax deductible donation and you will receive a discount from your Bobblebums eBay purchases:

MSMultiple-Sclerosis City to Shore ride

John will also be doing a ride for Autism and another Children’s charity later on this year. Talk about the Bob Geldof of bobbleheads!

Matt Wieters Bobble Announced + Nolan Reimold + Adam Jones + Nick Markakis SGA Mini Bobbleheads

The Baltimore Orioles have announced four Bobblehead Stadium Giveaways for this coming 2010 Season. And, not shockingly - three of the Mini Bobbleheads focus on the Orioles ever rising talented outfield.

The Orioles once again have a daunting task in arguably Major League Baseballs toughest Division - the American League East. But if the O’s are going to remain at least competitive it will large in part be due to the incredible trio who man Oriole Park night after night!

Here is the complete run down for the Orioles 2010 Bobblehead Schedule:

May 26th 2010 - Nolan Reimold (Mini Bobble head)

June 24th 2010 - Adam Jones (Mini Bobble head)

June 30th 2010 - Matt Wieters (FULL SIZE Bobble)

August 5th 2010 - Nick Markakis (Mini Bobble head)

The Future's so bright, Pablo Sandoval Bobblehead has to wear shades & we predicted  SGA Bobblehead last October!

Pablo Sandoval

The San Francisco Giants have announced two amazing 2010 bobbleheads! One of which I urged the Giants to make in one of my Ozzie Smith Bobblehead blogs, which brought to a close the 2009 season of Bobblehead Daze!

A Pablo Sandoval, aka Kung Fu Panda bobblehead will be given out on April 24th, 2010 at AT&T Park.

In addition to Pablo Sandoval's first ever Stadium Giveaway SGA Giants Bobblehead, a Tim Lincecum Bobblehead will be given away for the second year in a row, this time on July 17th, 2010.

I guess this means "the freak" should win his arbitration case!

Save Better Off Ted

“If you’ve never heard of Project Jabberwocky it’s probably because of the tepid time slot ABC’s cult TV show Better off Ted has been saddled with during its first and second seasons.”

Last week I promised my wife I was going to write a short article that discussed the ABC television comedy Better off Ted - and just how fantastic it is. It has become one of our favorite shows to watch of late, right up there with Dexter and The Office, and yet surprisingly it has still not been picked up for a third season.

C’mon ABC. Just because Modern Family has become a huge hit doesn’t mean you should ignore the obvious charms of Better off Ted. Surely there’s room for a half hour of BOT next season?

Portia del Rossi - Save Better Off TedIf Better off Ted ends up cancelled after two seasons, it would be an absolute travesty. I found Season One to be VERY good – especially if you dig fast paced, quirky comedies. BOT the second season has only gotten Better (off Ted) with nearly every witty line in each episode being a well crafted zinger!

Sadly, Better off Ted’s biggest nemesis hasn’t been the quality of the writing or acting – but rather a weak time slot that hasn’t managed to garner significant ratings since BOT premiered March 18th 2009.

Dr. Bhamba - Save Better Off TedToo bad, because the entire leading cast is dynamite. Portia del Rossi in particular may even bring home some Emmy hardware if this show is allowed to continue to grow. Even actors with smaller roles, like Veridian Dynamics Dr. Bhamba played hilariously by Maz Jobrani have really turned this show up a few more notches this past season.

So please ABC, don’t prematurely axe a sure fire hit, albeit perhaps “cult” TV show in the making! BOT fans appear to be growing through Social Media groups like Twitter and Facebook each week as the show, to this layman at least, appears to be growing some serious legs!

Note to ABC executives who make tough decisions: If you don’t save Better off Ted you may end up working on Project Jabberwocky next season.

You do know what Project Jabberwocky is don’t you?

Here’s another great link to a Better off Ted featured article I recently read in the Chicago Tribune that much more eloquently discusses the true merits of BOT - and why ABC needs to save Better off Ted.

And this link will take you to an online petition site called Go Petition where you can let your voice be heard to help save Better off Ted.

Megan FoxWe’ll get down to the more serious Fantasy Baseball 2010 Sleepers and Keepers blogs soon enough guys – I promise! And yes 2010 Pickups of the Week will be posted every week beginning later on this spring.

Keep in mind fellas – it is mid January. Can the archival data and statistics that we compile here at WaiverSharks - or ANY other Fantasy Baseball website in the Continental US, or Canada for that matter - really predict jack shite on January 17th?

Oh sure, we can prognosticate a few early projections, and we’d be sure to do a post season chest pump pointing out our successful “Winter Guesses” (While not mentioning any BAD ideas like taking the Rangers Chris Davis in the 5th round in 2009 *sigh*)

Babe RuthBut - really, c’mon - Until Pitchers and Catchers report to Spring Training – it’s a real tough tour of duty to figure out whose gonna be the Fantasy Baseball answer to your prayers in 2010. So, this year I’m sticking with the idea that we wait until at least Babe Ruth’s Birthday (February 6th) before I start the annual preseason suggestions.

Yes, I’m just as eager as anyone to talk some 2010 Fantasy Sleepers, and sure I’ll maybe chime in with a couple thoughts I have. But let’s save the serious draft day decision making until AFTER the ground hog & his blasted shadow unknowingly pisses us all off yet again! Six more weeks of this?!?!

AvatarI’d rather listen to a group of nerdy amateur film critics who thinks they could make a better movie than Avatar. 4 part memo to nerdy Avatar haters: You can’t. You won’t. Move on.

I have one simple request.

And no, it’s not to have Waiver Sharks with frickin’ laser beams attached to their heads. In fact - it has nothing to do with laser beams…not that there’s anything wrong with the occasional laser beam…

We will be unveiling our NEW 2010 Bobblehead Daze Logo or Bobblehead Days as some still like to refer to it - next week.

So, please allow me to indulge & take a few minutes to reflect on the archival Bobblehead Daze navigation buttons we’ve previously employed.

Does anyone recognize the TWO SGA Bobbleheads we featured during years one and two of our most popular side blog?

2008

2008 Bobblehead Daze

The 2008 edition which incidentally was created more or less as a last minute “filler” blog, featured the Pittsburgh Pirates starting pitcher Zach Duke Bobblehead.

I snapped this photo (No Photoshop was used – I swear!) while WaiverSharks writer Ryan Roach and his brother were busy shagging some batting practice fly balls hit off of Jason Bay back in 2006. I recall Mike Jacobs, who was than playing for the Florida Marlins lacing a couple screamers out of the park & landing them in the Allegheny River . The Pirates 1B/OF Garrett Jones hit a game winner last year that reminded me of the dingers Jacobs was cranking out of the park during BP at PNC.

2009

2009 Bobblehead Daze

Ah yes, 2009 helped popularize the Mohawk Daric Barton Bobblehead. I’m really going to miss this proud bobblehead which has adorned the upper right hand corner of our site for over a year. But, alas it’s a new year & we must move on!

This was the first SGA bobblehead I ever bid on during an eBay auction and actually won. So that’s why I selected it to have such a prominent role in our site’s overall look.

It’s too bad Daric Barton has yet to break out with the Oakland A’s, but this Sacramento Rivercats SGA is still one of the coolest bobbleheads around.

2010

Hmmm…I wonder who will it be???

Check back soon & I’ll explain how we came to decide on this season’s featured bobblehead pic! Or, if the suspense is just too intense – (I doubt that!) Just read our New Years Day 2009 Bobblehead of the Year article where we told you who you will be seeing in the top right hand corner of WaiverSharks for the next year or so.

Roy Halladay and Roy Halladay Bobblehead

You gotta admit Jays fans, as hard a pill it may be to swallow, the Roy Halladay Bobbleheadlooks pitcher perfect - even while wearing red Nikes and Phillies pinstripes,

Philadelphia Philliesfans better buy their May 18th tickets to the ballpark (Citizens Bank) sooner than later to ensure they get their hands on their big offseason signings bobblehead.

The National League Phillies recently had to change gears from what was originally slated as lefty Cliff Lee Bobblehead. The Doc Bobble will be handed out to ALL Fans who attend right hander Roy Halladays Bobblehead day game when the home team takes on the visiting Pittsburgh Pirates.

A sellout is likely for the Toyota promotional SGA night game that begins at 7:05. Now, who says Pirates games are not hot tickets?
