“If you’ve never heard of Project Jabberwocky it’s probably because of the tepid time slot ABC’s cult TV show Better off Ted has been saddled with during its first and second seasons.”
Last week I promised my wife I was going to write a short article that discussed the ABC television comedy Better off Ted - and just how fantastic it is. It has become one of our favorite shows to watch of late, right up there with Dexter and The Office, and yet surprisingly it has still not been picked up for a third season.
C’mon ABC. Just because Modern Family has become a huge hit doesn’t mean you should ignore the obvious charms of Better off Ted. Surely there’s room for a half hour of BOT next season?
If Better off Ted ends up cancelled after two seasons, it would be an absolute travesty. I found Season One to be VERY good – especially if you dig fast paced, quirky comedies. BOT the second season has only gotten Better (off Ted) with nearly every witty line in each episode being a well crafted zinger!
Sadly, Better off Ted’s biggest nemesis hasn’t been the quality of the writing or acting – but rather a weak time slot that hasn’t managed to garner significant ratings since BOT premiered March 18th 2009.
Too bad, because the entire leading cast is dynamite. Portia del Rossi in particular may even bring home some Emmy hardware if this show is allowed to continue to grow. Even actors with smaller roles, like Veridian Dynamics Dr. Bhamba played hilariously by Maz Jobrani have really turned this show up a few more notches this past season.
So please ABC, don’t prematurely axe a sure fire hit, albeit perhaps “cult” TV show in the making! BOT fans appear to be growing through Social Media groups like Twitter and Facebook each week as the show, to this layman at least, appears to be growing some serious legs!
Note to ABC executives who make tough decisions: If you don’t save Better off Ted you may end up working on Project Jabberwocky next season.
You do know what Project Jabberwocky is don’t you?
Here’s another great link to a Better off Ted featured article I recently read in the Chicago Tribune that much more eloquently discusses the true merits of BOT - and why ABC needs to save Better off Ted.
And this link will take you to an online petition site called Go Petition where you can let your voice be heard to help save Better off Ted.
