The Shallow and The Deep

As we FAST approach the 2009 Major League Baseball season, we wanted to give you a preview of our NEW 2009 daily waiver wire pick-up feature, THE SHALLOW & THE DEEP.

What’s changed?

No more complicated “Tier System”!

We had a riot conjuring up a Shark themed grading system last season, to represent player pick-ups, but it became, as the French say: Tres Difficile! And it was confusing for our readers to try to remember all of the different levels of Sharks each player fell under.

Updating THE CAGE was a bit of a nightmare, and constantly moving players around cut into the meat and potatoes information we want to get out to you.

So now what? Well…

FIRST UP:

Ryan RoachWaiverSharks.com writers, Ryan Roach (on the left) and Scott Woodall, will be featuring SLEEPERS for ALL 30 MLB teams, prior to the kick off of the 2009 Fantasy Baseball season.

One SHALLOW pick-up suggestion, and one DEEP pick-up suggestion - which will usually be an up and coming prospect, or a real long shot!

We’ll run down TWO Sleepers for each team in alphabetical order, starting with the Angels, followed by the Astros, and so on…until we polish off THE SHALLOW & THE DEEP sleepers with the Yankees towards the end of March.

Then we get down to brass tacks!

Once we’ve wrapped up ALL 30 teams shallow and deep sleepers, the 2009 MLB season will be just about set to kick off!

AND SO too will our DAILY version of:

THE SHALLOW & THE DEEP....Whoohooo!

Our DAILY pick-up suggestions will be exclusive content to waiversharks.com each day*, presented in a similar format as our preseason sleepers.

(*Except Saturdays – Sorry we had to pick one day to do our laundry!)

As the season progresses, we will archive ALL of our DAILY suggestions into a section we refer to as: THE CAGE (Consider it a new & improved version of THE CAGE). THE CAGE will be an at-a-glance summary of the daily pick-ups. Simply click a player's name to see why we chose him!

We will still honor each month's BEST waiver wire pick-up with WaiverSharks' Megalodon of the Month Award.

AND lastly, we intend to have our faithful video staple “Bones”, who will continue to do his Pick-Ups of the Week, beginning in April. (We are currently negotiating BONES 2009 contract, and he’s being more stubborn than Manny Ramirez!)

We want to thank everyone for all the comments you’ve sent our way since WaiverSharks' inception, and hope you enjoy all the changes we’ve instituted for the 2009 Fantasy Baseball season!
