San Francisco’s calling us…the Giants and Mets will play.
The Giants young ace - Tim Lincecum is freshly coming off his amazing Cy Young award winning season – and appropriately enough “The Franchise” was rewarded for his 2008 efforts with an upcoming Bobblehead Day at AT&T Park on May 17th – 2009.
Various 4 game ticket plans were announced on the Giants website – including one package that includes a 1:05 Sunday afternoon game versus Jose Reyes and the New York Mets! Can’t wait to see what Tiny Tim’s bobblehead will look like – well, I guess it will look like him right? But you know what I mean. Will his hair be dogged long? Will he look 12? Will they mention the Cy Young Award on the base? I guess we will know soon enough. Just as long as it doesn’t resemble The Crazy Crab – I’ll be happy.
Actually, “Bobblehead Daze” our latest blog here on WaiverSharks.com, is putting together a fun article on some recent rather bizarre and unusual bobblehead giveaways that have been featured in baseball the last few seasons – including the aforementioned Giants Anti-Mascot Crazy Crab Bobblehead which was made available in 2008.
SIDE NOTE: I’d Love to take the wife to The Bay area to celebrate our first year of marital bliss – but a trip that distant would require some serious cash! Arg! – Being we live in Canada – our chances of heading down for this stadium giveaway SGA will be about as likely as finding a case of Mr. Pibb cola under my tree this holiday. I guess this is the trade off when you reside in the land of Curling and Kraft Dinner!
Incidentally, the opening line of this post was actually taken from a song called “Piazza, New York Catcher.” One of my favorite itunes – I fell in love with the Scottish Septet - Belle and Sebastian about four years or so ago, and still thoroughly enjoy playing their wonderful 2003 release - Dear Catastrophe Waitress today.
Here’s an amateur Youtube video based on the song. Great job on this Kristen!

In case you hadn’t noticed – The 2009 promotional season is under way!
