The Philadelphia Phillieshave wasted no time at all anointing their big off season signing of Roy Halladay with Stadium Giveaway fame. Originally slated for a Cliff Lee Bobblehead day – the 2008 World SeriesChampions switched gears faster than the BBC’s Top Geartest pilot “The Stig” once the ink was dry on the blockbuster deal that sent Doc Halladay to Citizens Bank.
The 2003 American League Cy Young winner shown above at last years All-Star Game with his teenage son Tim Lincecum (*sarc*) will be honored with his bobblehead day on Tuesday, May 18th when the Phillies face off against the Pittsburgh Pirates.
All fans in attendance will receive a Roy Halladay Bobblehead, and can also look forward to celebrating with a Carlos Ruiz Bobblehead on Tuesday August 24th when the Phillies play host to the Houston Astros!
A majority of MLB teams are still a number of weeks, or in many cases, months away from announcing their 2010 Bobblehead SGAschedules – Not the LA Dodgers.
The 2009 NL Western Division Champions have listed amongst their 2010 Ticket Plans a “Bobble-Slam Plan” which features all four Dodger Bobblehead giveaways for the upcoming year. The cheeky plan name was dubbed in honor of Manny Ramirez’dramatic Grand Slam hit on Manram’s very first Bobble head night while playing for the Dodgers.
Last season we got our wishes granted with a Matt Kemp Bobblehead. In 2010 things get off to a spicy start on May 18th with an Andre Ethier Bobblehead. This will be the full time outfielder/par time cooking critics first major league bobblehead SGA.
If you’ve never checked out Andre’s take on LA restaurants - check out his blog
It’s great to get early news on some of the outstanding crop of 2010 Bobblehead Stadium Giveaways the Major and Minor Leagues have planned. But this one has me already coordinating Road Trip plans – in December!
Like many Fantasy Baseball fanatics I really took a liking the Pittsburgh Pirates rising star. Although it came as no surprise when it was announced that the Buccos had decided to honor the speedy center fielder on August 6th 2010 – to get the news this soon was a fantastic way to kick off our 2010 Bobblehead SGA edition of Bobblehead Daze.
So there you go Pirates fans, a reason to cheer besides the fact that Bobby Crosby is coming to town. (sarcasm) Hmmm…Maybe it’s just as well “Cutch” didn’t win Rookie of the Year in his first seson…it sure as heck didn’t help Crosby ! But who knows, perhaps a switch to the NL, and a new home will help the oft-injured 2004 ROY .
This will be Andrew McCutchen’s first MLB bobblehead – but a keen collector has already nabbed one of the 2000 SGA’s that the Altoona Curve gave out to fans attending a game at Blair County Ballpark back on May 18th 2007.
Lets hope the Pirates produce their 2010 SGA version complete with the Cutch dreads!
PLEASE email scott@waiversharks.com if anyone gets an early preview picture of what the McCutchen bobblehead looks like so we can post it up for everyone to see!
Note: The Pirates have also announced they will be offering a Garrett Jones Figurine next season on May 22nd, 2010.
We hope you keep popping back to check out what MLB baseball has on tap for the 2010 season. The SGA Bobblehead remains the number one promotional item in professional sports today – and has shown no signs of letting up!
