April 2009 - Megalodon of the Month
Aaron Hill (2B)
We select one player as our Best Waiver Wire Pickup suggestion every month, and recognize him with the “Megalodon of the Month”.
On April 15th we suggested a re-emerging, and clean bill of health (finally) Blue Jay named Aaron Hill. He was overlooked by nearly everyone due to his post concussion syndrome issues that destroyed most of his 2008 season.
Aaron Hill enjoyed a fantastic April, and has been the leading catalyst for the Toronto Blue Jays surprisingly fast start to 2009. His contributions to fantasy baseball managers who were lucky enough to land him this past April made this “King of the Hill” an easy call for our April 2009 Megalodon of the Month. Congrats Aaron!
Proving we are human, and won’t always nail them all – we’ve decided to also make mention of our WORST Waiver Wire Pickup suggestion from April which we have aptly named our Chum of the Month:
April 2009 - Chum of the Month
Emmanuel Burriss (2B/SS)
Rest assured – we haven’t given up all together on Manny Burriss, but his dreadful start to the San Francisco Giants year made us wish we had never mentioned his name so early into the 2009 MLB season. His 2B/SS eligibility and speedy skill set lured us in on April 7th, but his buck sixty one batting average made us nearly puke in a McCovey Cove kayak.
Even Adam Jones can’t bear to look at Burriss’ on base %! He does have 5 stolen bases, and it’s far too soon to write for the entire 2009 MLB campaign – but as of now this is one Manny you want to avoid. For now, cut bait with Chum of the Month until he shows some signs of life.
