Ramble-GambleIn my search to find my new team, I’ve come down to these:

1) San Diego Padres

2) Los Angeles Dodgers

3) Arizona Diamondbacks

4) Los Angeles Angels

5) Tampa Bay Rays

I like all five of these teams a lot, but here we go…

Sorry to toss a pie in your faces Angels fans! (They we’re really tough to rule out!) But as I said before, it’s the “of Anaheim ” thing! I just couldn’t get past that. I really think they are a fantastic organization and I like many of their players – but choices needed to be made.

Howie KendrickHowie Kendrick is going to be one heck of a ballplayer if he can one day get healthy! I just love watching that cat hit the ball!

The San Diego Padres also were a casualty this round because the hitting this year has been absolutely putrid, and the off season signing of Jim Edmonds was ridiculous!

If they’d call up Chase Headley, I would have probably put them in my top three. Still, considering they have had several injuries this year, and the offence has been awful - it’s quite the testament how much I dig this team.

Now, seriously Mr. Towers – call up Chase Headley!

So, the final 3 teams are:

1) Arizona Diamondbacks

2) Los Angeles Dodgers

3) Tampa Bay Rays

Any guesses yet? Tune in tomorrow when we’ll hear Nurse Piggy say: Hiiiiiiya! Down to the Final two!

Okay, yesterday we narrowed down the teams I’m considering routing for to these ten teams. There are various reasons why I selected these ten, but I’ll dig in a little deeper on my explanations when I decrease the field down to the top three.

American League

Los Angeles Angels

Texas Rangers

Tampa Bay Rays

Toronto Blue Jays

National League

San Diego Padres

Milwaukee Brewers

Arizona Diamondbacks

Florida Marlins

Los Angeles Dodgers

Cincinnati Reds

Drum Roll please!

I understand I’m likely the only one in the world who feels this is important enough to call for a drum roll, but what can I say? I don’t choose the team I plan to follow for the rest of my life every day – so…roll them skins!

RrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrDdddddddddddddddRRRRRRRRRRRRrrrrrrr

(How does one “write” a drum role anyways?)

The 5 remaining teams - in no particular order, are:

1) San Diego Padres

2) Los Angeles Dodgers

3) Arizona Diamondbacks

4) Los Angeles Angels

5) Tampa Bay Rays

Sorry Brew Crew, it was a tough field to cut from, but tomorrow I’ll break down my top three choices.

Anna Kournikova

Man, this race is getting tighter than Anna Kournikova’s racquet strings!

Ramble-GambleI’m in the process of figuring out which Major League Team I want to become a fan of.

As mentioned in my previous Blog post, I simply don’t share the same spirit, nor passion, for the Detroit Tigers, whom I once idolized as a child.

And I reiterate, it’s not because they have been struggling. I have actually been growing tired of them for several years. They’ll always hold a place in my heart, but alas it’s time to move on.

So let’s start to whittle down my options, shall we? Incidentally, I strongly encourage anyone who is in need of a change to consider other options.

Especially Lions Fans! Haha! Just Kidding!

Okay, I already determined that I’m not joining the dark side. The New York Yankees are NOT an option.

How about…

Boston Red Sox?

Nope. I think Red Sox nation is full enough. I truly dig Youk, and Jacoby Ellsbury, who looks like a star in the making, but I think this ship has sailed. They’ve won a couple titles, and to jump on this would scream “bandwagon”! Also it’s my buddy Ryan’s team - so he deserves them ALL to himself.

Minnesota Twins?

Hmmm - smaller market, which kind of intrigues me.

Carlos Gomez is about as exciting a player as you’ll find in todays era. And some of the young starting pitching core – a la Glen Perkins, Kevin Slowey, and Nick Blackburn, seem rather admirable.

But, I really think Rotoworld’s Aaron Gleeman’s Blogs on the Twins are terrific – so maybe leave the Twinkies to the man that knows them best.

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim

Seriously…the name alone is enough to jump off this ship! I LOVE Howie Kendrick though. And John Lackey has been a player I’ve enjoyed for years in Fantasy.

Let’s give them a maybe!

Okay now that we’ve found a possibility…Let’s skip to the chase.

Here are the 10 Teams I’ve narrowed my quest for fandom down to:

American League

Los Angeles Angels

Texas Rangers

Tampa Bay Rays

Toronto Blue Jays

National League

San Diego Padres

Milwaukee Brewers

Arizona Diamondbacks

Florida Marlins

Los Angeles Dodgers

Cincinnati Reds

A pretty impressive list indeed. The Pirates have a beautiful ballpark and I like some of the up and comers that should be joining their team soon, like Steve Pearce and Andrew McCutchen, but ultimately these 10 all had just a little more going for them.

Tomorrow we’ll whittle things down to five teams…any thoughts who may not make the cut?
