Seeing a dear friend depart in any way shape or form can be devastating and although with time the pain somewhat subsides, I don't know if the longing for that friend ever will. I know that Now loved you (seemingly more than he loved anybody else) and it's always been clear that you loved him immensely. You were very good to him and gave him a wonderful home for many years and I have no doubt that he appreciates that and the bond the two of you shared. I will always remember him and I know you will never forget him. I'd bet that he will always remember you and love you dearly for you were his loving "father" and his best friend. Cats are very resilient and adaptable and seem to move on somewhat easily - probably a lot easier than we do so try not to worry about him, he'll be just fine. I appreciate the opportunity to read about you and he and taking a few minutes to tell everybody about Now is a straightforward example of how much he means to you and the caring type of person you are.
