It’s always tough when your favourite team (Boston Red Sox) lets go of your favourite player (Trot Nixon). When the Red Sox declined to re-sign Nixon last winter and move on with J.D. Drew, I was heart-broken. The fact that I’d be seeing a new face in right field saddened me greatly, but it also angered me when Mr. Drew decided he’d wear Trot’s great #7.

Since the Red Sox home jerseys do not dawn a name on them, it now appears that I own a J.D. Drew jersey, instead of a Trot Nixon jersey, which needless to say is very embarrassing.

Since the departure of my favourite player, the Red Sox have done an adequate job of bringing in many fan favourites, such as Josh Beckett & Daisuke Matsuzaka, but none of which have tickled me like Jacoby.

Jacoby EllsburyJacoby Ellsbury was born the same year as me (1983), and on a day in which a national tragedy is remembered (September 11th). After watching what this guy did in September and October last season, I am proud to say that Jacoby Ellsbury is my new favourite player.

It brings me joy when the Red Sox develop a player which such caliber from within their organization. His Derek Jeter like approach at the plate makes me feel confident every time Ellsbury steps in the box. He just has the look and swagger of a born winner; something the entire baseball world witnessed in October of 2007. He posted an unfathomable .360 batting average in the playoffs, in what didn’t even classify as his rookie campaign.

This guy is definitely one of the favourites to win the AL ROY this season, and I’ll be his biggest fan this year; cheering him on all the way. GO JACOBY GO!!!

PLEASE TRADE COCO CRISPS TO THE CUBS for whatever!

20 Cans of weather resistant green paint so the Sox can give the Monster a fresh face seems about right?

The Ellsbury era started last fall Terry, let him take his knocks, & in the end, the experience will fast track skills!
