If you’re planning a baseball road trip this summer to Pittsburgh, to take in one of WaiverSharks.coms favorite ball parks of all time, PNC Park - We are beyond envious!

The Pirates PNC Park is truly one of most beautiful ballparks in the major leagues. And, despite the Pirates mediocre record – and a possible trade deadline sell off of some of their better players – the Pirates games still provide a fantastic place to witness a major league baseball game - and to try out a Primanti Brothers sandwich!

Primanti Brothers was founded in 1934 and currently has 15 locations in Pittsburgh - including the ones in both PNC Park and Heinz Field.

According to Wikipedia, the sandwich was created during the Great Depression for Steel towns blue collar workers who required a hot meal for lunch that would keep them full all day.

Since the workers didn’t have the time or the utensils for such a hot meal - Primanti Brothers incorporated the ‘sides’ right into the sandwich – thus the reason the hot French fries, tomato slices, and heaping amounts of slaw are built right in.

My mouth is beginning to water just thinking about one of these!

Kudos to Sylvar’s flickr picture that gives a perfect shot of one of these legendary sandwiches – this one includes egg - but ham and other various meats can be lusciously layered inside the thick slices of bread – contained from toppling only by the signature wax paper wrap up.

Now if you’ll excuse me – I have to go make myself something to eat!
